Personal Notes: Sueo Sudo is a Professor at Nanzan University, Nagoya, Japan. He received his PhD from the Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan in 1987. Before taking his current position, he was a research fellow at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, a fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore and a professor at Saga University in Saga Prefecture, Japan. His research interests are ASEAN and Japan–ASEAN relations. He has published various books in English and Japanese, including The Fukuda Doctrine and ASEAN (1992), The Structure of Southeast Asian International Relations (1996), International Relations of Japan and South East Asia (2002), Evolution of ASEAN-Japan Relations (2005), External Behavior of the State (2007), and Japan’s ASEAN Policy (2015).
